From early 2026, ALL new drivers will need to answer questions on CPR and how to use a defibrillator (AED) as part of their car or motorcycle theory test.
Why? Because drivers are often first on scene at road traffic accidents — and knowing these skills can genuinely save lives. ❤️🩹

We’re proud to highlight one of our Public Access Automated Defibrillators (AED) located at The Village Rise Pharmacy! 🏥
This life-saving device has been in place since pre-COVID and has since been relocated from the side to the front of the building: making it even more accessible in an emergency.
It’s just one of the many ways we’re working to keep our local community safe 💙⚡
If someone nearby ever needed it in an emergency, the access code can be given by the emergency services when you call 999 📞

With a change in the First Aid Protocols released in October 2025, we are really busy working on new ppts and getting to grips with the new lesson plans, all of which go live on the 2nd February.
We have already updated all the first aiders we have trained with regards to the upcoming changes, either while training or via our regular newsletter.

Remember these units are not recommended by the Resuscitation Council so as a first aider you should perform the recommended back blows and either abdominal or chest thrusts, depending on the age etc., of the casualty.
However we have had people attend courses who have already purchased similar products to these. Please look at what you are buying. If it’s £16.95, buy one get one free they are not likely to be safe to use. Any product like this should be CE marked and have a lot number, manufacturers date etc. otherwise do not use it, it could be more dangerous than the choking itself.
LifeVac are MHRA approved so of a standard that if your going to purchase this type of product it’s has suitable verification.
